この円形の香合には、研ぎ出し蒔絵技法で表された優雅な千鳥（ちどり）の意匠が施されています。漆と金粉を重ね、その表面を磨き出すことで繊細な文様が現れ、鳥たちに柔らかく上品な表情が与えられています。こうした香合は、かつて日本の茶会で用いられ、その卓越した技と美的な繊細さが見事に伝わる逸品。

Round Maki-e Incense Box with Chidori Motif in the Togidashi Technique
This round incense box features a graceful design of chidori (plovers), rendered in the togidashi maki-e technique. Layers of lacquer and gold powder are polished to reveal the delicate motif , giving the birds a soft, refined appearance. Such incense boxes were traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony, where their craftsmanship and aesthetic subtlety were highly valued.
